Resume Introduction

Dr Sean Zhu is a registered Chinese medicine practitioner and certified acupuncturist in Australia. He graduated from Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine in 2003 and gained his clinical experience as a registered Chinese medicine practitioner for 20 years. He began his master degree in one of the Chinese top orthopaedic hospitals in 2008 and continued his PhD studying in University of Western Australia with full scholarship as a rising star in the medical field in 2011.

His PhD investigation concentrated on the treatment of osteoporosis, a common age-related disease in Australia. Dr Zhu published his findings in two leading journals and his research has attracted global academic attention.

After graduation, he continued his career as an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner in Perth. To him, the combination of needles and herbs opens a new door for the treatment of bone-related diseases. He has helped patients suffering from joint pain, osteoporosis and arthritis avoid operations or reliance on painkillers with acupuncture treatment.

He also has rich experience in treating infertility through Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture. He has helped more than 100 couples realise the dream of becoming parents, among whom 60% are over 35 years old.

Dr Zhu has inherited and carried forward the academic thoughts and experiences of Shanghai-style paediatric TCM. His expertise covers respiratory, digestive, nutritional, endocrine and nervous systems, including recurrent respiratory infections, asthma, adenoid hypertrophy, rhinitis, infant eczema, digestive disorders, precocious puberty, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity and tic disorders.

Furthermore, Dr Sean is passionate about integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine to help young patients with various illnesses, such as allergic rhinitis. He manages to improve nasal ventilation and reduce nasal secretions by using long needles, inspired by the combination of traditional acupuncture and modern medical anatomy.

After studying and working here for nearly 14 years, Dr Sean is deeply impressed by Australian culture, such as the Melbourne Cup and AFL. He is keen to contribute further to the development of Chinese medicine in Australia and is confident that he can deliver a high standard of clinical outcome for his clients.

Dr Sean is a member of the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) and nationally registered and accredited by the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
